A Great Fishing Theme and Fast and Friendly Service made Crown Street Fish shop a pleasure – 3.5 out of 5.
I stopped into Crown Street Fish Shop on the way to a foodie event on Thursday 30 July, 2015. I was really impressed by the seafaring theme that ran consistently throughout the venue and the smooth tunes on the sound system.
The restaurant was fairly empty at 5.30pm. I suppose they would get more business later in the night. I was in a bit of a rush to get to my event at nearby Sparkle Cupcakery and was after a quick bite. I would have ordered the Lobster Mac ‘n’ Cheese ($19) had I not been in a rush. This CSFnC favourite recently made the AU Review‘s list for best Mac ‘n’ Cheese in Sydney. I’ll definitely be back to sample it for myself.
Anyways…On my first visit I couldn’t look past the titular dish of Battered Fish and Chips with Tartare Sauce ($16). Three generous pieces of fish, coated in light and cripsy batter with chips and a fairly liquid tartare sauce. The chips weren’t as crunchy as I would have liked but the fish was fresh and delicious. It arrived within minutes of me placing an order too which was nice.
Great ambience and friendly service. Be sure to stop by on Monday nights for their $1 oysters and on Wednesday nights for $1 dumplings.
Happy Cooking and Keep Smiling,
