It’s Halloween: Blood Orange and Strawberry Daiquiri (Adults Only of Course)

I’ve got a wicked cocktail to cure your taste for blood – blood oranges that is!

Like most festive celebrations in Australia, Halloween too is flipped on it’s head. While Halloween in the Northern Hemisphere means cold autumn days, chilly nights and spooky fogs, here in Sydney we’re probably experiencing some of the hottest days this year. What we really need is a way to cool down while celebrating a night of ghoulish fun. Strawberries and blood oranges are in their peak and work magic together in a sparkling daiquiri.

Don't worry, it's not blood. Just a blood orange :)

Prep Time 5 mins | Serves 4

Ingredients:

  • 4 blood oranges, juiced
  • 4 handful strawberries, washed and hulled
  • 100mL white rum
  • 100mL lemonade
  • Extra strawberries, to garnish
  • Method:

Make the daiquiri. It couldn’t be easier. Simply place the ingredients into a blender and whizz for a couple of seconds until smooth.

Serve the daiquiri. Fill four highball glasses with ice cubes. Top with the daiquiri mix. Garnish the glass with a strawberry and pop in a straw to serve.
