It’s always great to snuggle up on the couch during winter with something warm and gooey to eat. These pear and chocolate puddings with a hot chocolate sauce make for the perfect after dinner treat. Best of all, they are easy to prepare using ingredients you probably already have in your cupboard.
Prep Time: five mins | Cooking Time: 30 mins | Makes 9
- 100g butter, plus 25g extra for greasing
- 100g muscovado sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2x 59g eggs
- 150g self-raising flour
- 100g dark chocolate, melted
- 1 large pear, cored, sliced into 9 pieces
- 150g dark chocolate, chopped
- 100g cream
- 1tsp honey
- pinch of salt
Prepping the puddings. For the puddings, grease nine holes from a 12-hole muffin pan with butter. Pre-heat an oven to 180ºC (fan forced). Beat the butter, sugar and vanilla in a large mixing bowl until the mixture is light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, making sure the mixture comes together before adding the next. Add the flour and chocolate, and carefully fold the mixture together with a metal spoon until well combined. Divide the mixture evenly among the prepared muffin pan. Poke a pear slice through the centre of each pudding. Bake for 25 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the centre of the puddings comes out clean.
Getting saucy. For the sauce heat the cream, chocolate, honey and salt in a small saucepan over a low heat. Stir the pan every minute or so, until the cream and chocolate combine and the sauce is smooth. Serve the puddings drizzled with the sauce.
